How Long Does Window Tint Last? Care Tips After Installation

The First 3-5 Days Matter Most

Fresh film needs time to fully cure and bond to the glass. During this window:

• Don't roll down your windows for at least 3 days (longer in cold weather — the adhesive cures slower below 40°F).
• Small water bubbles or haziness are normal. This is trapped moisture working its way out during curing, not a defect. It clears on its own within 1-2 weeks.
• Skip the car wash, especially automatic washes with brushes, for the first week.

Everyday Care After It's Cured

Once cured, window film is low-maintenance — but a few habits make it last:

• Clean with a soft microfiber cloth and a non-ammonia glass cleaner. Ammonia breaks down tint film over time and can cause premature fading.
• Avoid sharp objects near the film — stickers, ice scrapers on the inside of windows, and pet claws are the most common causes of accidental damage.
• Roll windows down slowly if they've been in direct sun for hours — sudden temperature changes right after (like blasting AC on hot glass) are harder on any film, tinted or not.
